  Pashmina
Pashmina Spinning - Pashmina is a Persian word derived from pashm and mina meaning soft wool and hair respectively. The raw wool used to hand spin the yarn is referred to as pashm. Pashmina is generally used for the processed yarn or the fabric hand woven from it.

The manufacture of a pashmina shawl comprises a large number of processes, involving different sets of people with skills specific to particular tasks. The tasks are clearly defined and divided on the basis of gender. Women greatly outnumber men and play a crucial role in the production process. Spinning is exclusively conducted by women, whereas weaving is done exclusively by men.

Pashmina Weaving - The weaving of pashmina yarn is a complex process just like the spinning of pashmina yarn. Pashmina weaving is an exclusively male domain as opposed to spinning that is done exclusively by women.
